This week has mostly been about getting back into the school routine. It's also been about starting a new routine for the cats. We have been letting them out at breakfast and then they spend the morning with us in the school room.
It's been good for getting us to go right to work after breakfast, but there are also lots of moments where we stop for pictures. Because they're adorable.
Alice is our 4H club's Member of the Month for January, so she gets to sit in the special chair.
We're participating in the Read Aloud Revival challenge, so we're spending at least 20 minutes of the day with the kids reading aloud.
We also started back with our artist studies. Neville was really interested in the painting!
We got a new Dunkin Donuts in town just before Christmas but we waited until the crowds finally died down to visit. The kids thought it was worth the wait!
We made some winter art (last week) that I got in frames so we can put them in our school room.
Again, because they're adorable.
Yesterday was all about relaxing--at least after early swim team. Alice made us some eggs.
We also watched Star Wars--Alice for the first time and me for the first time since I was a kid.
And for the first time since we've moved in, my shelves are looking good! We're ready for the new week!

Saturday night the kids and I went to the Harry Potter New Year Bash held by our library system. They got tickets like this when they got there along with tokens for snacks.
They both chose butterbeer and chocolate frogs!
They sorted everyone into houses.
Both the kids got...
They also got to visit the wand sorting station.
When they got the right wand there was a little chime!
They also go to make scarves in their house colors!
Modeling the finished scarf!
Snacking on his chocolate frog
Working on a trivia game
There was a costume contest, which this little Hagrid won.
They even decorated the bathroom!
Photo booth fun!
We had such a fun time!

It doesn't seem possible that this picture, one of Bobey's last, was taken more than three months ago. I miss him so much, but I am so grateful for the time we had with him. Sixteen years ago today we brought him home, and though the beginning and end of his time with us were hard, they made us appreciate him even more. I'm so glad we had him!

This year we did our New Year's Eve bags a night early so the kids could have a sleepover at my mom and dad's.
At 5:00 we did a photo scavenger hunt with pictures from the year.
I spy Jack in the lizard cage!
6:00 had a couple of different things.
While dinner cooked, the kids went through the memory jar.
So many fun memories to look back on!
Alice's pony tail from her big hair cut!
And the Golden Ticket!
We had 2018 pizza to eat!
At 7:00, we videoed interviews about the year and did some New Year's Eve mad libs.
8:00 was Minute to Win It games, starting with the Nutstacker.
They tried to bounce ping pong balls into the egg cartons and get three in a row.
Trying to get three ping pong balls to stick on the tape.
They had to get as many Froot Loops on a pipe cleaner as they could and then twist it into a bracelet using only one hand.
Trying to be the first to stack 25 pennies using only one hand.
At 9:00 we watched Zathura. (And while we were upstairs doing that, the kittens were downstairs turning on the laundry room sink!)
We took a break at 10:00 for ice cream and then finished the movie.
The 11:00 bag had Slapzi.
Players have to match their cards to different category cards.
The 12:00 bag had new message boards for the kids.
It also had noisemakers and hats!
Happy New Year!
