Sun Day

As I've said before, one of the best benefits of homeschooling is the ability to do what you want when you want. Monday I loaded up the kids for a little road trip. (This picture was taken while we were in line at the donut shop. Just as I was about to tell the kids to look at me, the man came back to the window with their food, so I snapped it.)

Our first stop was our old library. Jack had a blast challenging Ms. Kim to a game of chess.

The kids loved checking out the new games!

They spent a lot of time with the animals, too.

Alice was fascinated by all the puppets--and of course she went to storytime, too!

We spent the afternoon at the zoo, where Jack lucked out and got to ride in the swan boat with his friend and his dad. (We are rowing Make Way for Ducklings this week, so we thought it was cool that he got to ride a swan boat around a pond--just like in the book!)

The kids both thought cotton candy was fabulous!

Alice was very interested in all the animals. Any time we walked by a cage, or what she thought was a cage, she would try to get out of her stroller and say, "Ee! Ee!" ("See! See!" in Alice-speak.)

We went to see the amazing and ginormous new elephant exhibit. Here Jack is pointing at the stroller, which is starting to roll backwards down the very long ramp.

Alice was trying to explain that the elephants were BIG.

My children don't know how to do water half way. We always have to bring extra clothes to the zoo now.

I'm so glad we were able to take this day together--and before field trip season gets in full swing, too!
