This year we're not doing unit studies in the same way we have in the past with Jack. Now I am tying his reading in with his history more and doing separate science and language arts. Since he's learning about the Middle Ages we tackled Beowulf one week. We started out with the book above, which tells about Beowulf's battle with Grendel.
Next we moved on to this version. These graphic novels are great! This one tells all three parts of the story: Beowulf and Grendel, Beowulf and Grendel's mother, and Beowulf and the dragon.
When he was finished, Jack made a little booklet that told about each part of the story. Super simple!
